RPM Enterprises (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), through its websites hellorentals.com (collectively, the “Sites”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Sites or any related online or mobile services. We use the term “you” to refer to any visitor, user, or customer of our Sites, all of whom are over the age of 18. By using our Sites or providing information to us, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
California Notice of Collection: If you are a California resident, please see the Your California Privacy Rights section below for important information about the categories of personal information we collect and your rights under California law.
Who We Are: HelloRentals operates a global real estate coaching and education business (primarily serving a U.S.- based audience) through the Sites listed above. For individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, HelloRentals acts as the “data controller” of your personal information. For California residents, HelloRentals is a “Business” as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
What Is Personal Information: In this Policy, “personal information” (or “personal data”) means any information that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to an individual. This includes obvious identifiers like your name, email address, phone number or postal address, as well as less direct identifiers like your IP address or device ID. We recognize that certain laws define personal information broadly to include unique elements (for example, under CCPA or GDPR), and we endeavor to protect all personal information we collect in accordance with those standards.
Information We Collect
We collect personal information from and about our users in a variety of ways. This may include information you voluntarily provide to us, as well as information collected automatically when you interact with our Sites.
1. Information You Voluntarily Provide
You may choose to provide personal information to us in various contexts, including:
● Contacting Us (Emails and Forms): If you send us an email, fill out a contact form, or otherwise inquire on our Sites, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, or mailing address, along with the content of your message. We use this information to respond to your inquiry or request.
● Account Registration: If our Sites allow account creation (for example, to access courses or membership areas), we will ask for information like your name, email, and possibly other details to set up and manage your account (including creating login credentials).
● Event or Program Registration: When you register for a webinar, coaching program, training course, or live event through our Sites, we will collect identifiers such as your name, email, phone number, and any other required information. If the event has an associated fee, we may also collect payment information (handled as described in the Payments section below). This information is used to enroll you in the event or program, provide updates, and fulfill our services to you.
● Purchases and Transactions: If you purchase products or services from us (such as courses, books, or merchandise), you may provide your contact details and payment information. Payment details (credit card numbers, etc.) are not stored on our servers; they are processed by secure third-party payment processors (see Payments below). We collect only the information necessary to fulfill your order, such as your name, billing/shipping address, and contact info, and we use it to process the transaction and deliver the product or service.
● Newsletter and Email List Sign-Up: If you subscribe to our newsletter or marketing emails, we will collect your name and email address (and any other information you submit as part of the sign-up). We use this to send you periodic updates, promotional content, and relevant news. You can opt out of these communications at any time as described in the Your Rights and Choices section.
● Surveys, Contests, or Promotions: From time to time, we may offer surveys, contests, giveaways, or promotions. Participation is voluntary. If you choose to participate, you may be asked to provide your name, contact information, and any other required details. This information will be used to administer the survey or promotion (for example, to analyze responses or notify winners) and as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
● Social Media or Community Features: Our Sites or services may offer community features, such as discussion forums, comment sections, or social media integrations. If you choose to post content or otherwise participate in these public forums, any information you submit (including your name or username, profile information, and the content of your post) can be read, collected, or used by other users or the public. Information you share in these forums is considered public and is not protected by this Privacy Policy. Please exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal information in public areas.
Note: Providing your personal information to us is optional. If you do not want us to collect certain information, you can choose not to provide it. However, not providing information when requested may limit your ability to use or access some features of our Sites (for example, we might not be able to register you for an event or respond to your inquiry), but you will still be able to browse public portions of the Sites. We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information you voluntarily provide to us with third parties. We will use and disclose your voluntarily provided information only for the purposes described in this Policy or as was clear at the time of collection.
2. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or interact with our Sites (including via a mobile device), we and our third-party partners may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of the Sites through cookies, pixels, and other tracking technologies (see Cookies and Tracking Technologies below for more detail). This automatically collected information may include:
● Device and Browser Information: Such as your IP address, device type (e.g., desktop, mobile, tablet), operating system, browser type, and browser language.
● Usage Data: Information about your activity on our Sites, including the date and time of your visits, the pages or content you view, the features you use, the links you click, and the page you visited before navigating to our Sites.
● Identifiers: Unique identifiers associated with your device or browser. For example, we may capture your IP address or set a unique cookie ID to recognize you on return visits.
● Location Information: General location information may be derived from your IP address (e.g., your city or region). We do not collect precise geolocation (exact GPS coordinates) unless you explicitly permit it (for instance, by using a feature on our Site that requires location access).
This information is collected to understand how users navigate our Sites, to personalize your experience (such as remembering preferences), and to improve our services and content. For example, we may use this data to determine which pages are most popular, to detect technical issues with the Sites, and to ensure the content is delivered properly on your device.
Importantly, we also use third-party analytics and advertising services that utilize cookies or similar technologies to collect usage data. For instance, we use Google Analytics to help analyze how users use the Sites and improve the user experience. Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. We have also implemented tracking pixels (such as the Meta Pixel from Facebook/Instagram)and/or similar tools to understand user interactions and marketing effectiveness. These pixels can collect information like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited, and they enable us to display targeted advertisements on third-party platforms (like social media sites) based on your activity on our Sites. The data collected by these third parties may be combined with other information they hold about you and is processed according to their own privacy policies. (For example, see Google’s Privacy Policy or Meta’s Privacy Policy to learn how those companies handle collected information.)
We want to be transparent that when you use our Sites, third-party analytics and advertising partners may collect certain information about your online activities over time and across different websites or online services. You can learn more about these practices in our Cookies and Tracking Technologies section, including how you can opt out of certain tracking.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files that websites send to your device to uniquely identify your browser or to store information/settings in your browser. Like many websites, we use cookies (and similar technologies like web beacons, pixels, and ad tags) for a variety of purposes:
● Essential Cookies: Some cookies are necessary for our Sites to function properly (for example, to remember your login session or preferences).
● Analytics Cookies: We use cookies to collect information about how visitors use our Sites, which helps us analyze traffic and improve functionality. For instance, as noted, we use Google Analytics cookies to gather aggregate insights on user behavior.
● Advertising Cookies: We and our advertising partners may use cookies and pixels to deliver and measure advertisements, including behavioral or interest-based advertising. This means we might show you ads for our services on other websites (or on social media) based on your interactions with our Sites. Cookies and pixels enable such retargeting by informing us (or our ad partners) about your visit to our Sites so that we can recognize your device on other platforms and display relevant ads.
Embedded Content: Some pages on our Sites may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube/Vimeo videos, social media widgets, or other external content). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if you visited those other sites directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. For example, if we embed a YouTube video, YouTube may place its own cookies on your browser when you play the video. We do not control the data collection of these third-party providers. Please refer to the privacy policies of those services for more information on their data practices.
Your Choices (Cookies): Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or delete cookies, please note that some parts of our Sites may not function properly (for example, you may not be able to maintain a logged- in session).
● Opting Out of Analytics: You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on or by using browser settings to block cookies from Google Analytics.
● Opting Out of Interest-Based Ads: Many advertising networks offer a way to opt out of targeted ads. You can visit the NAI’s opt-out page or the DAA’s consumer choice page to opt out of receiving interest-based advertising from participating networks. Additionally, on platforms like Facebook, you can adjust your ad preferences in your user settings to control how your information is used for ads.
Please note that opting out of cookies or targeted advertising mechanisms does not mean you will no longer see ads – but the ads you do see may be less relevant to your interests.
“Do Not Track” Signals: Some browsers have a “Do Not Track” feature that sends a signal to websites indicating you do not want to be tracked. Currently, our Sites do not respond differently to such Do Not Track signals. We adhere to the practices described in this Privacy Policy, and we encourage you to use the opt-out options described above if you wish to limit online tracking.
How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for a variety of legitimate business purposes. HelloRentals will only process your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so – for example, because you have given consent, because it’s necessary to perform a contract with you (such as delivering a service you purchased), for our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business (balanced with your data protection rights), or to comply with a legal obligation. In general, we may use your information in the following ways:
● To Provide Services and Respond to Requests: We use your information to deliver the products or services you have requested. For example, we use personal details to enroll you in a course or program, grant you access to content, or respond to inquiries you send us. This also includes managing your account or membership, if you have one (e.g., maintaining your login and profile information).
● To Process Transactions: If you make a purchase or payment, we use personal and payment information to process that transaction, confirm your order, provide receipts, and deliver the relevant product or service. We also use this information to handle refunds, cancellations, or other transaction-related activities.
● To Communicate with You: We may send administrative or account-related communications to you, such as confirmations of your registrations or purchases, reminders about events, updates to terms or policies, or customer service messages. We will also respond to your emails, inquiries, and requests using your contact information.
● To Personalize Your Experience: We use data (like what pages you visit or what services you’ve shown interest in) to tailor your experience on our Sites. This could include remembering your preferences, showing you content that is more relevant to your interests, or providing custom recommendations.
● To Improve Our Services and Websites: The information we collect (particularly through cookies and analytics) helps us understand how our Sites are used. We analyze this data to debug and enhance our website functionality, develop new features, products, or services, and improve the quality and content of existing offerings. Your feedback, when provided (for example through surveys or support interactions), is also used to improve our offerings and customer service.
● For Marketing and Promotional Purposes: We may use your contact information to send you newsletters, marketing emails, and promotions about our products, services, upcoming events, or other opportunities we think may be of interest to you. This may include using information about your past engagement with us to tailor these communications (for example, highlighting a new coaching program if you attended a related workshop). You have control over whether you receive these communications – see Your Rights and Choices below regarding opting out. We may also use information about you to target advertising for our services to you on third-party platforms (such as social media), as described in the Cookies and Tracking section.
● To Administer Promotions or Surveys: If you participate in contests, sweepstakes, surveys, or similar promotions, we will use the data you provide to administer those programs. For example, we may use your responses to improve our services, or your contact details to notify you if you win a prize.
● To Ensure Security and Prevent Fraud: We are dedicated to keeping our Sites and business secure. We may process personal information (such as device information, IP addresses, and account activity) to prevent, detect, and investigate fraud, unauthorized access, security breaches, and other misuse of our Sites or services. This includes enforcing our Terms of Service and protecting the rights and safety of our users, customers, and the general public.
● To Comply with Legal Obligations: We may use your information as necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations, or to respond to lawful requests and legal process (for example, to respond to a subpoena or court order). We also may use and retain data as needed to meet record-keeping requirements, enforce our agreements, or resolve disputes.
● For Any Other Purpose Disclosed at Collection: We will use your personal information for any additional purposes that we describe at the point where you provide the information, or otherwise as specifically permitted by you. In any case where consent is required by law, we will obtain your consent prior to using your personal data for a purpose that is not already allowed under existing law or this Privacy Policy.
We will retain and use your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, and as required or permitted by law. For example, we may retain certain transaction details for accounting or legal compliance. When we no longer have a legitimate need to retain your information, we will dispose of it securely or anonymize it.
When and With Whom We Share Your Information
We understand the importance of your personal information and we do not sell your personal data to third-party data brokers or marketing companies. However, we do share your information with certain third parties in the following circumstances, as required to run our business and as permitted by law:
● Service Providers (Processors): We may share your personal information with third-party companies and individuals who perform services on our behalf. These include, for example, payment processors, email service providers, customer relationship management (CRM) software providers, cloud hosting services, analytics providers, advertising partners, and other IT or business support services. These service providers are given access only to the information necessary for them to perform their specific tasks, and we contractually require them to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. For instance, if you purchase a ticket to an event, we might share your address with a shipping company to send you materials, or share your email with an email platform to deliver your login credentials.
● Affiliates and Related Companies: We may share your information with our affiliates, subsidiaries, or other companies under common ownership or control as HelloRentals. Any information shared within our corporate family will be used in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy. For example, if HelloRentals expands or has sister companies offering related services, we might share your information so that those affiliates can inform you of products or services that may interest you. (You will always have the ability to opt out of marketing communications from us or our affiliates, as described in Your Rights and Choices.)
● Business Partners and Joint Ventures: Occasionally, we may partner with other businesses, coaches, or organizations to provide co-branded services, offers, or events (for example, a jointly hosted seminar or a partner training program). If you engage in these joint offerings, we may share your information with the partner to the extent needed (for example, to confirm your enrollment or allow them to provide their portion of the service). We will generally notify you at the time of collection if an event or service is co-sponsored and if your information will be shared with the co-sponsor. Any partner with whom we share data in such cases is expected to protect your information and use it only for the purposes of the joint program, and to not further use or disclose it except in accordance with their own privacy policies or as permitted by law.
● Affiliate Marketing Relationships: Our Sites may include affiliate links or references to third-party products and services. This means that if you click on a third-party link or decide to purchase a product/service through one of those links, we may earn a commission or referral fee. In such cases, we typically do not share personal data directly with the third-party merchant unless it is necessary to track and verify the referral (for example, an identifier in the link or a coupon code may tell the third party that you came from our Sites). If you provide information to any third-party website or service that is linked through an affiliate program or advertisement on our Sites, that information is provided directly to the third party and will be subject to their privacy policy, not ours. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit. (Please note that our affiliate relationships are primarily about referral tracking; we do not sell your contact info to advertisers. Any data sharing is limited to what’s needed for the referral or as otherwise disclosed to you.)
● Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose your information if we are required to do so by law or legal process, or if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a legal obligation (for example, responding to subpoenas, court orders, or regulatory requests); (b) protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of HelloRentals, our employees, our users, or others; or (c) investigate and help prevent security threats, fraud, or other malicious activity. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud detection and credit risk reduction, where permitted by law. If we receive a lawful request for information (such as from law enforcement), we will attempt to verify its validity and only provide the minimum necessary data in response.
● Preventing Harm: In addition to legal compliance, if we believe that someone is likely to cause harm or is interfering with our rights or property or the rights of other users or anyone else, we may disclose information as needed to prevent such harm. For example, we might alert relevant authorities or platforms about fraudulent or dangerous activities.
● Business Transfers (Mergers or Acquisitions): If HelloRentals is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. In such cases, your personal information could be one of the business assets that is transferred to or acquired by a third party. We would only transfer the minimum data necessary and would contractually require any new owner to honor the protections and commitments we’ve made in this Privacy Policy. You will be notified via a prominent notice on our Sites (or by email, if applicable) of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
● With Your Consent or At Your Direction: We may share your personal information with other third parties in cases where you have given us direct consent to do so. For example, if you request that we introduce you to a third- party coach or vendor, or you explicitly agree that we can share your testimonial on our site (containing your name or image), we will do so with your permission. We may also offer you the opportunity to opt in to sharing information with third parties (such as other seminar attendees or a sponsor) for a specific purpose; in that case, we will only share as permitted by you. If you later change your mind, you can contact us to withdraw consent for future sharing.
We strive to only share the personal information that is reasonably necessary for the third party to perform its function. Whenever feasible, we anonymize, aggregate, or pseudonymize data before sharing so that individuals are not readily identifiable. We also take steps to ensure our service providers and partners are bound to confidentiality and privacy obligations in line with this Policy (for example, through data processing agreements). However, please note that while we contractually require parties receiving personal information from us to safeguard it, we cannot guarantee their compliance in every instance. If you have questions about third parties with whom your information might be shared, feel free to contact us for more information.
Payments
When you make a purchase through our Sites, we use third-party payment processors to handle credit card and other payment transactions. Examples of such processors may include Stripe, PayPal, or similar services (depending on what we offer). These payment providers will collect your payment card information (such as credit card number, expiration date, billing address) directly through secure, PCI-DSS-compliant web forms. HelloRentals does not see, store, or process your full credit card details on our own servers. Instead, all such sensitive financial information is transmitted directly to the payment processor, who uses your information solely for the purpose of processing the transaction. These third-party processors have their own privacy policies which govern the use of your personal information for payment processing. We recommend you review the privacy policy of the payment processor that you use for a transaction to understand how they manage your data.
We will receive limited information back from the payment processors as needed to record and confirm your payment – for example, a confirmation that payment was made, the last four digits of your card for reference, the payment amount, and date/time. We use this information for invoicing, order fulfillment, and record-keeping. All payment transactions are encrypted using industry-standard security (SSL/TLS) and the processors we utilize are required to maintain high levels of security and compliance (such as PCI-DSS certification) to protect your payment data.
If you have any questions about making payments, feel free to contact us. If you wish to update or delete your payment information, this may need to be done through the third-party processor (for instance, updating the card on file for a subscription), though we will assist where we can.
Your Rights and Choices
You have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information. We want you to have control over your data and how it’s used. Below, we outline the options available to all users, followed by additional rights that may apply depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., California, other U.S. states, or the EU).
General Choices for All Users:
● Accessing and Updating Your Information: If you have an account on our Sites, you can log in and review or update certain personal information (such as your profile or contact details) directly through your account settings at any time. For any information not accessible via your account, or if you do not have an account, you may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you. We will provide it to you, subject to identity verification and as required by law. If any personal information we have is inaccurate or outdated, you may request that we correct or update it.
● Opting Out of Marketing Communications: If at any time you prefer not to receive promotional emails or newsletters from us, you can unsubscribe by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any marketing email we send. You can also contact us at [email protected] to request removal from our mailing lists. Please note that you may continue to receive transactional or account-related communications (such as purchase confirmations, event reminders, or important service notices) even if you opt out of marketing messages, as those are not promotional in nature. If you receive SMS/text messages from us (for alerts or two-factor authentication, for example) and wish to opt out, you may follow the instructions in the text message (often replying “STOP”) or contact us for assistance. We will honor opt-out requests as soon as reasonably practicable. Please keep in mind that it may take a short time to process your opt-out and you may still receive messages that were already in progress prior to your request.
● Cookies & Tracking Choices: As described in the Cookies and Tracking Technologies section, you can control or limit certain tracking technologies through your browser settings or third-party opt-out tools. You can also opt out of targeted advertising through industry programs (see links provided above).
● Deleting Your Information: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you. All users can contact us to request deletion of their data. We will evaluate such requests and, if required by law or if we find no lawful reason to retain the data, we will delete or anonymize the information. Keep in mind, however, that we may need to retain certain information for specific purposes such as completing a transaction you initiated, complying with legal obligations (e.g., financial record-keeping), security reasons, or other internal business purposes consistent with legal requirements. If we cannot honor a deletion request for a specific reason, we will inform you of that reason (subject to legal restrictions).
● Withdrawal of Consent: In cases where we rely on your consent to process personal information (for example, for sending certain marketing communications in jurisdictions requiring consent), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. If you withdraw consent, we will stop the relevant processing (e.g., stop sending you the newsletter you consented to) unless we have another legal basis to continue (such as an ongoing contractual obligation).
● Additional Rights: Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights such as the right to data portability (to obtain a copy of your data in a common format), or the right to object to or restrict certain processing activities. We outline below some rights specific to certain regions.
Privacy Rights for California Residents:
If you are a California resident, you are entitled to certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These laws provide California residents with the following key rights (subject to certain exceptions and limitations):
● Right to Know: You have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell (if applicable) about you. This includes the specific pieces of information we have collected, the categories of personal information, the categories of sources from which the information was collected, the business or commercial purposes for collecting or sharing the information, and the categories of third parties with whom we share personal information. (Please note, we do not sell your personal information and have not sold personal information in the past 12 months.)
● Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. For example, we may retain information needed to complete a transaction you initiated, to detect security incidents or protect against illegal activity, to comply with a legal obligation, or other reasons allowed by law. If we must deny a deletion request, we will explain the reason.
● Right to Correct: (Effective January 1, 2023, under CPRA) You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you. If you demonstrate that information we have is incorrect, we will take appropriate steps to rectify it.
● Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: You have the right to direct us not to sell your personal information to third parties. As noted, we do not sell personal data for monetary consideration. The CCPA/CPRA also considers certain data transfers (for example, sharing identifiers with third-party advertisers for cross-context behavioral advertising) as “sharing” which you have the right to opt out of. If we engage in such activity, we will provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link or mechanism on our Sites. At present, we do not share personal information in that manner except as described in this Policy (and such sharing is typically done with service providers under contract, or with your consent). If you have any questions or specific opt-out requests, you can contact us as described below.
● Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. This means, for instance, we will not deny you services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality just because you exercised your rights. However, please be aware that if the exercise of your rights limits our ability to process your personal information (for example, a deletion request), we may not be able to provide you with certain services that require the use of that information.
Exercising Your California Rights: If you are a California resident and wish to exercise your Right to Know, Delete, or Correct, you (or your authorized representative) can submit a request to us by contacting [email protected] or mailing us at the address provided in Contact Us below. Please indicate that you are a California resident making a “CCPA/CPRA request.” We will ask you for information to verify your identity (or the authority of your authorized agent) in order to fulfill your request. The information we request for verification will depend on your relationship with us and the nature of the request, but it may include things like your name, email address, and any relevant transactions or interactions you’ve had with us. We will only use the verification information to confirm identity or authority.
Once we receive a verifiable request, we will confirm receipt within 10 days and respond substantively within 45 days as required by law (or up to 90 days if we inform you of the need for an extension). If for any reason we cannot fulfill your request, we will provide an explanation. If you are unsatisfied with the outcome of a rights request, you may contact us for further assistance or you can reach out to the California Attorney General’s office.
Authorized Agents: You may designate an authorized agent to make a request under the CCPA on your behalf. If you do so, we will need to verify that the person is authorized to act for you. We may require a signed, written permission from you or proof of power of attorney, and we may also need you to verify your own identity directly with us or confirm that you provided the agent permission. We will not require this for an agent that has power of attorney pursuant to California Probate Code. An authorized agent must identify themselves as such when making the request.
Privacy Rights for Virginia and Other U.S. State Residents:
Several other U.S. states have enacted privacy laws that provide residents with rights over their personal data (for example, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Colorado Privacy Act, Connecticut’s data privacy law, Utah’s Consumer Privacy Act, and others that may take effect). If you are a resident of one of these states, you may have some or all of the following rights under applicable law: the right to confirm whether we process your personal data and to access that data; the right to correct inaccuracies in your data; the right to request deletion of your data; the right to obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format; and the right to opt out of certain processing activities, such as targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. The definitions of “sale” or “targeted advertising” may vary by state, but we emphasize again that we do not sell personal data for money, and any targeted advertising or sharing of data with third parties is done in compliance with applicable law and as described in this Policy.
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with an applicable privacy law and you wish to exercise your rights under that law, please contact us in the same manner described above for California requests. We will assist you consistent with the requirements of the specific state law. For example, Virginia residents have the right to appeal a denial of any privacy rights request – if we decline to take action on a request you submit, we will inform you of our decision and provide instructions on how you can appeal that decision. We will honor and respond to valid rights requests in accordance with the timelines and processes required by each state law.
Rights of EU/EEA, UK, and Other International Users:
If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or certain other countries with comprehensive data protection laws, you are entitled to additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar laws. Subject to conditions and exemptions set out in applicable law, these rights may include:
● Right to Access: You may request confirmation of whether we are processing your personal data, and if so, request access to that data (along with information about how we use and share it).
● Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
● Right to Erasure: You can, in certain circumstances, request that we delete your personal data (the “right to be forgotten”). As with other laws, this right may be limited in cases where we need to retain data for specific legitimate reasons (e.g., legal compliance or contractual necessity).
● Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to limit or suspend the processing of your personal data in certain situations – for example, if you contest the accuracy of the data or object to us processing it.
● Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request a copy of personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and you can ask us to transmit that data to another controller where technically feasible.
● Right to Object: You may object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on our legitimate interests as the legal basis, and your situation gives rise to specific concerns. For example, you have the right to object to processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes at any time. If you object, we will consider whether we have any compelling legitimate grounds to continue processing (and in the case of marketing, we will stop).
● Automated Decision-Making: We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing (including profiling) that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. If that ever changes, and it affects you, you would have the right to contest such decisions or request human intervention.
We facilitate the exercise of these rights for individuals in GDPR jurisdictions. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected] with your request. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request (to ensure that we do not provide data to an unauthorized person). We will respond to your request within the timeframes required by law (generally within one month, with the possibility of extension in certain cases). Please note that these rights are not absolute – there are circumstances defined in law where we may be unable to comply with a request (for example, we can refuse a request to delete data if we have a legal obligation to keep it). In such cases, we will notify you of the reason.
We want to highlight that HelloRentals’s legal basis for processing your personal data in most cases is legitimate interest (as we described in the “How We Use Your Information” section) or fulfillment of a contract with you (e.g. providing a service you paid for), and occasionally consent (for specific marketing or cookies, where required). We do not sell your data to third parties, nor do we engage in profiling or automated decision-making in any way that would override your rights and freedoms. If you have concerns about our data practices, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority in your country of residence. For example, EU citizens can contact their country’s Data Protection Authority; UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly before you do this, so please consider reaching out to us first.
Children’s Privacy
Protecting the privacy of minors is extremely important to us. Our Sites, products, and services are not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 18 years old. If you are under 18, please do not use our Sites or send us any personal information. In the event we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that your child (under 18) has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will work to remove the child’s information from our databases and refrain from using it for any purpose. For clarity, our policy is to comply with applicable laws like the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) which applies to children under 13, but we extend our caution to all minors under 18 given the nature of our services. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children’s online activities and educate them about safe internet practices.
Data Security
We employ a variety of security measures designed to protect your personal information and keep it secure. These measures include technical, administrative, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we collect. For example, we use encryption protocols (such as HTTPS/TLS) to protect data transmitted on our Sites, we maintain firewall and intrusion detection systems, and we restrict access to personal data to authorized personnel who have a legitimate need to know it. We also require our service providers to follow strict data protection standards.
While we strive to protect your information, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. You use our Sites and provide information at your own risk. HelloRentals shall not be held responsible for unauthorized access to your data or any hardware/software failures that compromise the security of your information, except to the extent that applicable law imposes a specific obligation on us to protect that information. In particular, we disclaim liability for theft, destruction, loss, or inadvertent disclosure of your information by third parties. That said, we take security very seriously and have policies and procedures in place to handle any suspected breach of personal data. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify affected individuals and authorities as required by law, and we will take all reasonable steps to mitigate any potential harm.
We continually review and update our security practices to adjust to new threats and as guided by industry standards and regulations. We encourage you to also take precautions to protect your personal data. Make sure to use strong, unique passwords and keep them confidential, and be cautious about the information you share in public areas of the internet.
